Searches (B2G and SUSY)
Within the CMG group, several searches for new physics are actively pursued. The "Beyond-Two-Generations" (B2G) Physics Analysis Group covers models of new physics featuring heavy standard model particles in the final state. This includes searches for diboson resonances, heavy partners of the top quark with vector-like properties (VLQ) as well as heavy resonances, such as W' and Z' resonances. In many of these searches the final state particles can have significant Lorentz boosts, so that their individual decay products often overlap and merge. Such boosted topologies are exploited with dedicated reconstruction algorithms that were developed and became well established in the context of the analyses of Run 1 and Run 2 data.
Currently active analyses in B2G with CMG involvement:
- Search for diboson resonances in hadronic final states (VV/VH -> 4q/2q2b) using a three-dimensional background estimation method
- Search for X->yy'->4q (where y and y' have masses > 30 GeV) in hadronic final states using a three-dimensional background estimation method
- Nonresonant di-Higgs (HH -> 4b) production in the vector boson fusion production channel
- Search for triboson resonances in cascade decays in the lepton+jets and all-jets channels
